I have been wanting to make bulalo and finally I was able to make some a few days ago. Bulalo is one of the most favorite recipes in the Philippines. It is very easy to prepare but getting the beef shank tender takes time.
Here’s what you need:
1 lb beef shank
1 small bundle of bokchoy, whole leaf individually detached
2 pcs corn, each cut into 3 parts
3 pieces medium sized jalapeño peppers
½ cup green onions
1 medium sized onion
8 cups of water
½ tsp of beef granules
Procedure:
1. In a big cooking pot, bring the water to boil
2. Add the beef shank followed by the onion and beef granules, then simmer for 1.5 hours (less if using a pressure cooker) or until the meat is tender.
3. Add the corn and jalapeños then simmer for another 10 minutes
4. Add the bokchoy and green onion (onion leeks)
5. Then add salt to taste
