My hubby likes to cook. He is a better cook than I am. Sometime back he made Manwich Sloppy Joe using ground pork and it was really good. He ate it with a hotdog bun while I ate mine on rice. He said it was not as messy because the hotdog bun holds the sloppy stuff better than a hamburger bun. He said I eat everything with rice, which is true. It is due to the fact that I was born and raised in the Philippines and we ate almost everything with rice. That is part of our culture I guess and the way I was brought up. Rice is our primary food on the table with meat & veggies on the side.
Since I work from home and my hubby is now retired, we pretty much do things at our own pace. Cooking is no exception but that doesn’t mean we don’t enjoy easy to fix meals every now and then. My hubby in particular likes quick meals during dinner. Actually, we always stack up TV dinners in our refrigerator and canned goods in our pantry and that includes Sloppy Joe sauces. I never had Sloppy Joe until I came to the US. The first time I tried it was during our dinner at my sister-in-law’s place. It was a very long time ago. I think it was in the summer of 2006.
This time around I made Escabeche Crappie using Manwich Bold Sloppy Joe sauce. It was my first try and it turned out really well so I will be cooking more escabeche using Manwich Sloppy Joe sauces. That saved me a lot of time because I did not have to make the sauce from scratch. Manwich has no meat; it is a tangy sauce perfect for sandwiches, pastas and more.
Ingredients:
1 pc whole Crappie
1 tsp garlic
1 tsp cooking oil
1 medium sized onion,chopped
1 thumbs ginger, cut into strips
Cooking Procedure:
1. Fry the Crappie
2. Once the fish is fully cooked, remove from pan and set aside
3. Prepare the sauce
4. In a clean pan, saute the garlic and onions
5. Add half of the sauce and simmer for 5 minutes
6. Mix thoroughly
7. Put the Crappie in the sauce.
8. Serve hot.
