Freight Logistics

My hubby and I like to travel a lot. We spent most of this last winter in my home country, the Philippines. We thought we were going to avoid all of the winter by getting back on March 19th, but here it is April 22nd and we still have a huge pile of snow in our front yard. As a matter of fact, it was snowing quite heavily just yesterday.

We are really looking forward to getting some warm weather to melt all the snow and ice off from the lakes so that we can get out in the boat and start fishing. June is usually the best month for that but the way things are going it might be July or later this year. My sister from Colorado has been saying that she might come and visit us this year but if she doesn’t we may travel out there to visit her later on in the summer.

The only time we have been to visit her there in Colorado was when she got married and that was in 2009. We had an unfortunate accident on the way there in Sioux Falls, South Dakota when somebody dropped a pallet in the middle of the freeway and another truck cut us off forcing us to swerved around it, lose control of a car and hit the concrete retaining wall. I really got a big fright from that and had been leery driving near any of the big trucks on a highway since. I really would like to do more traveling by car because plane tickets to other countries are very expensive and our budget can’t always afford them. I need to try to get over my fear of driving on the highway with these big trucks all around us.

I know that most of my fear is unwarranted because really good professional drivers are usually the best on the highways. I have actually thought that I might start looking for trucking jobs because it seems like it would be a great way to see the country and earn a living at the same time. I have heard that there are many husband and wife teams out there who actually do make a great living by being truck drivers.
