How many times can you undergo a revision rhinoplasty surgery? Clearly, it’s a matter that’s still up for debate. On the one hand, you’ll hear someone say it shouldn’t be performed more than once. Then, someone else will tell you it simply doesn’t matter how many times you go to get the procedure done. Having a successful operation performed the first time around will make your need for a subsequent one much less likely. What are some of the steps you can take to get the best results on your first try?
Find a Good Plastic Surgeon
Before you go to get your first revision rhinoplasty operation done, you should think about what kind of a plastic surgeon you want for it. That being said, you’ll want to look for one, who’s knowledgeable, professional, and an expert in this type of surgery. Next, you should take his personality into account. Does he listen to your thoughts and concerns well enough? A surgeon, who lets you open up to him and listens to your ideas, desires, and goals, is the best candidate for carrying out your upcoming revision rhinoplasty operation. Since the object of this procedure is the nose, a delicate part of the face, you can see just how important it is to find a plastic surgeon you can trust. By doing so, you can be sure that he’ll work as hard as he can to provide you with the results you desperately wish to attain.
Be Thorough
If you choose a plastic surgeon that knows what he’s doing, your need for a second or third revision rhinoplasty, should go down considerably. Before you undergo surgery, you’ll be the one to guide him along with the information that’s needed for a successful procedure. So, how exactly do you go about doing this? First, you’ll tell him what changes you want made to your nose. For example, you could mention that it’s either too big or too small in size.
Also, you could tell him about a specific aspect of your nose you don’t like and how you’d like to see it corrected. You can tell him you’re not particularly fond of its shape or its overall look. Then, you can ask him to change it for you. When you say this, however, you need to make sure that you go on to explain what exactly you’d like him to change about it and be as specific as you can. You don’t need to be afraid of going into too much detail. By giving him as much information as you can before the procedure, you’ll be less likely to find issue with your revision rhinoplasty results later. A good plastic surgeon will listen to what you have to say and then, perform the surgery to the best of his ability.
Accept Your Results
It should be noted, however, this won’t always be the case. Even with a plastic surgeon, who listens to you well and does everything in his power to make your operation a successful one, you could still end up with less than ideal results that aren’t completely satisfactory. The reality is that it can and does happen sometimes, and you’ll have to come back for another revision rhinoplasty. Maybe you’ll even need to come back for a series of them. At some point or another, though, you’ll need to accept the results you get. As with any surgery that’s repeatedly carried out in the same spot, the chance for success gets lower each time you attempt to have another revision rhinoplasty done.
Your nose may not have turned out exactly how you’d imagined it would, but it does look a whole lot better than it did before you went to have the procedure done. There’s a certain sense of pride you should be able to feel in knowing that. As long as the results don’t turn out to be a real nightmare, simply accepting the results you get from revision rhinoplasty can be a good idea. Having too many of these operations performed on your nose can backfire, so it’s better to err on the side of caution when it comes to this.
Before you go to get a revision rhinoplasty operation done, there’s a lot you can do to minimize the potential risk of you needing to get another one done in the future. Talking to your surgeon and thoroughly explaining what you want to happen and what you don’t want to happen, is the first step. By accepting the results you get on the first or second surgery that’s been carried out on you, you’ll be better able to recognize the good that came out of it and notice a real difference in your appearance.
