Smoked fish is not my favorite fish recipe. I am more into fried and stewed. I haven’t tried smoking fish myself because I don’t know how to do it but my hubby does. I am thinking about smoking our nearby lake fish this coming summer. I am currently looking for an easy smoked fish recipe online. I am planning to dry or smoke some of our fresh catch crappies this year but my hubby says that bullheads actually make the best tasting smoke fish. We don’t usually catch many of them but that is because we don’t usually fish for them. I have had a craving for some dried fish and although I can get it from a nearby Asian store, I really want to try to make some of my own.
Last Thanksgiving, on our way back home from the Twin Cities, my hubby and I decided to stop by at Morey’s Fine Fish and Seafood in Motley. We don’t normally shop there because it is quite a drive for us but just happens to be on our way back from his daughter’s place. We bought a little each of smoked salmon, chubs and lake trout. They were all exceptionally good but my favorite was the salmon.
My hubby isn’t able to eat a lot of smoked fish because it is pretty salty so I ended up eating most of it all by myself. Since he contracted Lyme Disease, salt foods cause him a lot of pain. Though my hubby takes a bite every now and then and I shared some with his grandson, I ended up eating most of it myself. We are looking forward to stopping by at Morey’s the next time we go to the cities.
