Summer is coming to a close. Many of us are now gearing up for the cold winter months ahead. I am not ready yet for the frigid weather up north and I actually don’t even want to think about it. Ready or not, the cold breeze in the northern Minnesota has already started peeking through. I picked my last batch of blueberries about two weeks ago. I was not happy about that because both my hubby and I enjoy drinking fresh blueberry milkshakes. I stocked up a few quarts of wild blueberries in my freezer but I am pretty sure that won’t last long.
I feel fortunate that I live near a good blueberry patch. Wild blueberries are sweeter than the cultivated ones. I found out that wild blueberries also contain more powerful antioxidants. Although they are naturally smaller than the cultivated blueberries, they are tastier and are FREE in my area during summer 😉 . Wild blueberries are widely known as the antioxidant superfruit and considered to be one of the most valuable foods for the brain.
